Welcome

New Patients

When someone decides they would like to schedule a therapy appointment at RISE Counseling Inc they will be asked a few questions.

  • Do they have insurance?
  • What insurance provider do they have?
  • What would they like to be seen for?
  • What days/times are they available?

Based on insurance, what their identifying problem is along with availability they will be paired with a therapist. Typically we check their insurance benefits as a courtesy prior to them arriving for the assessment. This way if it is not covered, high deductible, high co-pay, the client is aware of it before the first interaction.

Ongoing sessions will typically include an eclectic approach from different theories and frameworks based on client need. For instance someone suffering from depression and anxiety may respond well to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques. While others suffering from PTSD may need to receive Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment. We have a few therapists at RISE specifically trained in this approach. Some clients may prefer talk therapy and problem solving with an objective third party. At times sharing insight or guiding clients towards better decision making is all they may be looking for. If they want or are in need of medication management they can be referred to psychiatrists in the State College area.
